Black and White Wednesday

In honor of Old Man Winter still being here, I thought I would share this picture
of my son Soren hanging out of a snow cave he made.

Yes, we have a snow day today, which means NO SCHOOL!!! I had a ton on my
plate and now all 6 kiddos are home!!

Tomorrow is suppose to be back up to 70 degrees!!

I really hope this is Old Man Winter on his way out for good!!

This is what we are dealing with today!!!! Sep. 21st 2009

Yes, you are seeing this right!! Old Man Winter has decided to come early this year. I guess he figured we never really had summer this year so we should just skip Fall and start with Winter!! It is a high of 33 degrees the snow is blowing sideways and we have about a 1/2 inch. It is suppose to drop to 20 degrees tonight with a few more inches. Our house does almost sit at 8,000 feet but come on SEPTEMBER????? I wonder if they have ever had a snow day for school in September before?? Nothing like a first time for everything!!

The view from our driveway

So we had a little Spring Blizzard Friday night through Saturday night!  It is hard to say how many inches we got because the wind was blowing so hard, up 60 mph!!  So we had no snow in some places and a lot in others.
Today is in the high 50's but it feels so much warmer when you are playing in the sun and still enjoying the snow.  Tomorrow we are suppose to be in the high 70's, crazy weather the Rocky Mountains has.
I put Ava's snow pants on just to keep her dry but she did not even need a jacket because of that radiant heat.  She had fun playing in the snow with her spoon and bowl just like being at the beach. ha  She also had fun making hand prints and foot prints in the snow.  We even made a baby snowman and she thought that was hilarious.
The pictures might be in two or three parts.

Finding for our Christmas tree

We have a Christmas tree farm right down the street from our home.  So the first weekend in December went to find our tree.  There was a few inches of snow on the ground from a few days before but for the most part it was a beautiful day.  As you can see my boys dont understand that it is winter and decided to go out with shorts and no jackets.  The trees are not the prettiest trees but they will do.  After living in the Northwest for over 15 years we were used to the beautiful Noble furs, my very favorite!  Now we have to settle for a Pine and they are usually oddly shaped.  We still had fun hunting through the snow for the perfect tree.  The boys played hide and seek and Yaya has learned how to eat snow.  Darn it my pics are backwards and I dont feel like changing them around!
